Perform desk review based on the Validation and Verification Report
Validation and/or Verification start with a Desk Review of the documentation. This step aims to review the compliance of a project with the Programme and the selected Methodology before site visits are conducted.
The VVB shall evaluate and document any material misstatements or nonconformity with ERS criteria. This includes performing cross-checks between the information provided in the PDD and information from sources other than those used. To facilitate the process:
VVBs should consider the Certification Report to see how ERS has evaluated every criteria.
VVBs should refer to the Validation and Verification Report to find all the criteria and their related data entry.
When performing Desk Review, VVBs should be paying particular attention to:
The Project coordinates, carbon rights, additionality demonstration.
Stakeholder consultations, including Stakeholder Mapping and FPIC.
The Restoration Plan including the species used, site preparation techniques and site assessments.
The Social Additionality Plan including social interventions and benefit sharing.
The Carbon Report, including calculations, the parameters used and the quality assurance and quality control procedures.
VVBs must consider the inputs received from the Public Comment Period and adjust the V&V Plan if needed, including the On-Site Visit schedule.
