Organise an Ecological Recovery Community Consultation

Local communities always have a good knowledge of what the ecosystem looked like in the past, what it looks like in the present, and the drivers to land cover change. This knowledge should be leveraged to inform the Project design.

Read the Community Consultation Guidelines (see: Community Consultation on Ecological Recovery) to prepare the meeting. Ensure to understand the meeting objectives and prepare the pre-meeting elements. This includes finishing the field assessment, having the Recovery Wheel(s) ready, completing the “Input from the Developer” columns in the 'Interventions' (Assessment) tab of the Ecological Recovery Assessment Tool and having a draft Restoration Plan to propose, validate and fine tune during the consultation.

If this is the first time you hold a consultation and need further support, general guidelines for holding a community consultation can also be found in the Community Consultation Guidelines (see appendix 1).

During this meeting, the “Confirmation from the Community” columns in the 'Interventions' tab of the Ecological Recovery Assessment Tool must be completed and the restoration plan must be finalised and validated, including the inputs from the community.

By the end of the consultation you will have completed the baseline assessment and the restoration plan.
